In the footsteps of its founders, Janis Provisor and Bradley Davis, Fort Street Studio worked with Mathilde Burkard for its debut of collaborative artist designs. Several abstract compositions were translated into rugs that embody that distill a sense of timeless tranquillity, a raw authenticity, and a return to fundamental materials.
Inspired by photographs of drawings damaged in a flood, Mathilde Burkard digitally enhanced the dynamic yet fading movement that resulted from blurred water and charcoal pigments, bringing out the raw beauty of these accidental patterns.
Genesis. New beginnings. This rug, with its organic pattern and terracotta palette of rich, earthy tones, evokes visions of Earth's formation, exploring its mineral and organic essence.
Passage. This design with a midnight palette reflects the passage of time, capturing the flow of water over minerals that gradually fade, making way for new directions.
